no and no........    if your thinking dale sr..... yes he sweeped both races in 89 but lost the title to rusty wallace by a mere 20 points so so......... keep trying

that is correct...........   bill eilliot did it in 1988.........   and won the closest points race in the modern era...... by a mere 4 points.......
