Well, I posted the question "in the last 30 years" only because the database of statistics I was using only went back to 1975. So even though King Richard could have the most wins from the pole, he isn't the one I was looking for.
None other than Darrell Waltrip in 1981 with 8 wins from the pole on the way to a Winston Cup title. His #11 Junior Johnson owned; Mountain Dew Buick achieved this at Bristol, Riverside, Pocono, Bristol, Martinsville, North Wilkesboro, Charlotte and Rockingham.
