Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
The second race of the 2005 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season was the Tech-Net Spring Sizzler at Stafford Motor Speedway . Here are some highlights of that event .
Tony Hirschman was the winner , deciding to go the distance on tires .
Zach Sylvester was the runner-up for the second straight race and came out of Stafford as the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour points leader.
Todd Szegedy made the trip up from North Carolina to sub for the injured Eric Beers . Szegedy would finish third in the "Ole Blue" #3.
Reggie Ruggiero had a strong run in the Barney #41 finishing fourth .
The camp ground was like a family re-union Saturday night . Myself, and my girlfriend, had the chance to see several of our racing family we had not seen in a while . I also had the chance to put my shovelling skills to work building a moat around former SK Modified Rookie Of The Year and BGNN competitor , Tucker Reynolds , families campsite . In all it was a fun weekend .

This race proved to be quite exciting. Qualifying brought out the best in drivers you don't normally hear about on a weekly basis...in the tour. Even my ears perked up and my eyes widened when I heard some of the times the part-time drivers and newcomers were posting. When time trials were over, the top-4 was a sight to be seen. (And I was plenty happy, too.)
