Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
L.W. Miller is off to an impressive start in the 2006 racing season. The Dushore, Pa. native is successfully competing in two different type cars this season.
He will campaign full-time in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series Northern Division aboard the No. 46 Speedco Truck Lubes Pontiac owned by Darin Odle. He is currently fifth in the standing in his first full-season of Pro Cup competition after a pair of seventh-place finishes at South Boston (Va.) Speedway on April 1 and at Lonesome Pines Raceway in Coeburn, Va. on April 22.
He also is driving the Baker Plumbing Chevrolet modified on a limited schedule in the NASCAR Whelan Southern Modified tour, the ASA Southern Modified Race Tour and occasional racing at Friendship Motor Speedway in Elkin.
After four NASCAR modified events, Miller is second in the standing with one win, a second-place finish, a third and one failure to finish. The win came Sunday at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va. the day after racing his Hooters Cup car at Lonesome Pines.
“I don’t know whether I’m more excited or tired,” said Miller in victory lane on Sunday. “That’s over 600 laps for the weekend and it was a great weekend.
“In the Hooters Cup race they sent me to the rear early in the race for taking out the 11 car (A.J. Frank). But, we still came back and got seventh which says a lot for the Odle team.
“As far as the modified goes, this is the most dominant car I’ve ever had. The car was just on a rail tonight.”
Miller knows about good cars as he was the S.M.A.R.T. Modified Champion in 2003 and 2004 as well as the Friendship Speedway modified champion last season
