Donny Lia Parts Ways with Hagans Racing 25-Year-Old to Focus on Modified Racing and Stock Car Future
June 7, Huntington, NY--- Twenty-five-year-old Donny Lia has announced he will be stepping away from the Hagans Racing ARCA RE/MAX Series team effective immediately. This decision allows Lia to now continue pursuing other opportunities to further his career in full-bodied stock cars.
“I want to thank Matt Hagans and the entire Hagans Racing operation, but the chemistry just wasn’t there between driver and team,” said Lia. “We entered two ARCA races and tested several times, but one thing remained consistent; the chemistry was not what it should’ve been to win races.
“I like a lot of the guys on the team, but on a competition level, we just couldn’t find the right ingredients that we needed, so I have decided to pursue other stock car opportunities outside of the Hagans organization. And let me add, I really enjoy the ARCA RE/MAX Series and feel it is a great learning experience for trying to develop your career.”
While continuing to pursue those stock car opportunities, Lia will return to the wheel of his Lia Motorsports, Inc. #18 on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour as he chases the 2006 WMT championship.
“We are now completely focused on our Modified efforts while continuing to talk with prospective team owners in the higher levels of racing. I look forward to the opportunities that await for my racing career.
Lia will be back behind the wheel of his #18 Whelen Modified entry on June 17th at Jennerstown Speedway (PA).
