Now with all that out of the way.....Let's make some laps!
NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour driver Donny Lia, seems to be quite vocal in his opinion the racing at Seekonk (MA) Speedway was fixed. Lia believes there was a conspiracy against the Whelen Tour drivers. Lia the defending Champion of the event was part of a Whelen Tour filed second heat race. Other Whelen tour drivers in the heat included Frank Ruocco, John Blewett III, Matt Hirschman, Chuck Hossfeld, and Ted Christopher. Hossfeld and Blewett would need consilation races to make the 100-lap main event, while Lia failed to qualify.
Lia was quite upset with the placement of Tour drivers in heat races saying " You can not tell me that it just happened, that all the Whelen Modified Tour cars, the way the draw worked out, were all in the same heat."
Whelen Tour driver Chuck Hossfeld also supported the conspiracy theory saying "It seemed fixed." "I mean to have a heat race with al the Tour guys, that is more than a coincidence."
Thank you to April Baker for the information.
