ACT Drivers Looking for Third Win of Season at Oxford
For Immediate Release ACT-070407-1
OXFORD, ME Stock car drivers from the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) will be looking to earn their third Late Model division victory at Maines Oxford Plains Speedway in the Time Warner Cable 100 on Saturday (July 7). Groveton, NH driver Randy Potter bested an all-star ACT/OPS field in the New England Dodge Dealers 100 in April, and Graniteville, VTs John Donahue scored in the L/A Harley Davidson Challenge 100 in June. Both victories were the first major Late Model event wins for each driver. Potters win was the first round of the ACT Late Model Tours 13-race 2007 schedule, while Donahues was part of the $300,000, five-race Oxford Late Model Challenge Series. Other ACT drivers looking to break into victory lane include multi-time champions Jean-Paul Cyr and Brian Hoar, as well as Brent Dragon, winner at New Hampshires White Mountain Motorsports Park last weekend. Oxford Plains Speedway regular competitors have other plans for the ACT drivers, however. Travis Adams of Canton, ME has earned three regular event wins at his home track this season, and is the defending champion of the 3/8-mile oval. Adams looks to join Oxford regulars Shawn Martin, Ricky Rolfe, and Ryan Moore as an American- Canadian Tour main event winner at the track. Hot on Adams heels is Livermore, ME driver Doug Coombs, who has a pair of top-five finishes in the 100- lap events, and also has a regular feature win at Oxford this season. Rolfe, Martin, Glen Luce, and Massachusetts driver Eddie MacDonald are prime contenders, as well. Legendary Maine racers Mike and Ben Rowe are also expected to attempt qualifying for the Time Warner Cable 100. Ben, Mikes son, won an ACT event at Oxford Plains Speedway in 2006. Mike, a seven-time OPS champion, is looking for his first ACT Late Model Tour victory. Green flag qualifying action for the Time Warner Cable 100 is scheduled to begin at 6:30pm on Saturday, July 7. Oxford Plains Speedway is located on Route 26 in Oxford, ME.
