More NHIS Qualifying News

From ModSeriesScene:

LOUDON, NH - (Sept. 13, 2007) Ford driving Todd Szegedy will lead a 40-car field to the start of the 100-lap NASCAR Whelen Modified Series race at New Hampshire International Speedway Saturday, Sept. 15. Szegedy paced the field in Bud Pole Award qualifying Thursday afternoon with a speed of 128.135 mph (29.725 seconds) around the 1.058-mile superspeedway in Loudon, N.H.

The qualifying effort is Szegedys first career New Hampshire International Speedway pole award. Szegedy, 31, of Ridgefield, Conn., is the series 2002 Sunoco Rookie of the Year, and 2003 champion. While he has yet to win at Loudon, his two best finishes of second place were in 2002 and 2003. The qualifying effort brought the Wisk/Snuggle Ford driver his third Bud Pole Award of the season.

Ron Yuhas of Groton, Conn., qualified second fastest in the Vassel Brothers, Inc. Chevrolet followed by series point leader Donnie Lia of Jericho, N.Y., in the Bob Garbarino Dodge, five-time series champion Tony Hirschman of Northampton, Pa., in the KAMCO Supply Corp. Dodge and NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series driver J.J. Yeley of Phoenix, Ariz., in Kevin Manions Tommy Baldwin, Sr. Tribute Chevrolet.

Charlie Pasteryak of Lisbon, Conn., qualified sixth, followed by Ronnie Silk of Norwalk, Conn., James Civali of Meriden, Conn., 16-year-old rookie Ryan Preece of Kensington, Conn., and Bobby Santos III of Franklin, Mass.

The $164,095 New Hampshire 100 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event takes the green flag Saturday at 1:10 p.m.
