2007 JB III Memorial North-South Shootout News and results

From WhoWon.com:

by Dale Wolbrink

LEXINGTON, N.C. -- It was announced recently that C&C Racing Promotions has secured backing for the 5th Annual John Blewett III Memorial North-South Shootout from two very prominent corporations. Town & Country Ford, a subsidiary of Sonic Automotive, Inc., has signed on as the presenting sponsor of the Modified portion of the prestigious event. A similar agreement has been reached with Wirtgen America, Inc. of Nashville, TN, for the accompanying East-West Supermodified Shootout.

The 5th Annual John Blewett III Memorial North-South Shootout presented by Town & Country Ford is scheduled for November 2&3, 2007 at Concord Motorsport Park in Concord, NC. The best Modified drivers from both north and south of the Mason-Dixon will do battle in 100-laps of green flag racing on the famed half-mile tri-oval while the best Supermodified competitors in North America will vie for prominence in the inaugural 50-lap Wirtgen America East-West Supermodified Shootout. The popular SK-Type Modifieds will be part of the excitement with a 50-lapper of their own. The format for the fifth annual event will also include time trials, heat races, consolation race(s) and non-qualifiers event(s) for the Modifieds, Supermodifieds and SK-Type Modifieds. Support divisions include Crate SK-Type Modifieds, Four-Cylinder stock cars, and Vintage Modifieds. A complete schedule of events is available at www.north-southshootout.com.

Town & Country Ford will serve as the title sponsor for the headlining Modifieds. Known throughout the Charlotte (NC) area for their superior pricing, selection, and customer service, Town & Country will play an integral part of the race weekend festivities. Fans will be invited to check out several brand new Ford vehicles that will be on display on the midway during the event. Visit Town & Countrys comprehensive website at www.townandcountryford.com. Sonic Automotive, Inc., one the largest automotive retailers in the United States, is owned by Bruton Smith. Smith also owns and operates Lowes Motor Speedway.

This has major significance here locally, said Promoter Charles Kepley of Lexington, NC. Town & Country Ford is a respected company in the Concord/Charlotte area and their involvement will bring a tremendous amount of exposure to the event and its proud competitors.

In similar news, C&C Racing Promotions has reached an agreement with Wirtgen America, Inc. to present the first annual East-West Supermodified Shootout. The company also serves as the title sponsor for the International Supermodified Association (ISMA), whose competitors will play a major role in the outcome of this first-ever event.

Wirtgen America, the world leader in asphalt recycling and base stabilization equipment, has been a mainstay in racing for many years. The companys marketing strategy has utilized motorsports successfully for nearly 20 years, traditionally in the open-wheel ranks including associations with Mark Kinser and Danny Lasoski in the World of Outlaws.

Wirtgen America, Inc., headquartered in Nashville, TN, is the worlds largest manufacturer of pavement milling machines; offering a full line of asphalt and concrete milling machines/profilers, hot and cold recyclers, and mixers for the pavement recycling and reconstruction industries. Wirtgen America products are available through a network of representatives and dealers throughout North America.

To be affiliated with an esteemed corporation that also has been instrumental in the development of open-wheel racing is truly a privilege, said continued Kepley. We are honored that a company with such a rich racing tradition recognizes the significance of the John Blewett III Memorial East-West Supermodified Shootout.

November 2&3, 2007 marks the fifth anniversary of the North-South Shootout. This milestone marks more than just a passage of time, it is a celebration of racing excellence and an homage to a racing tradition. It will be a grand anniversary celebration with the Modifieds, Supermodifieds and SK-Type Modifieds.
