KING, N.C. -- In a joint announcement, Officials from the ASA Southern Modified Race Tour and the North South Shootout, have declared the ASA Modified event scheduled for Friday May 23rd, a qualifier for the biggest Modified event held in the south.

Were happy to join with Charles and Chad Kepley, Promoters of the North South Shootout in reaching this agreement. The Shootout is the biggest Modified race in the south and one of the most prestigious Modified events anywhere said ASA / SMRT Director, Randy Myers. Charles does a tremendous amount of work with his event and really helps Modified racing in general with his promotions. To make the opening race for the ASA Modifieds a qualifier really enhances what we do and with the announcement coming this close to the race with most of the entries already in place, it shows the importance of our series, Myers said.

The ASA Southern Modified Race Tour event at ACE Speedway kicks off the 2008 season for the series. Race time is 8:15 PM Friday night.

The North South Shootout is scheduled for November 4 8 at Concord Motorsport Park, the fastest ½ mile asphalt track in the South.
