Green Flag for Modifieds...On Thursday, October 30th, the management of Monadnock Speedway held a meeting in regards to adding tour type modifieds to the 2009 schedule. The meeting was very well attended and competitors displayed a very strong interest in supporting a modified division at the 1/4 mile high banked track. At that point, the speedway management decided that there was enough interest to have the return of the modifieds in 2009. All agreed with the combined effort of management and the competitors working together, the division would become one of the hottest modified action offered in New England.
The topic of discussions included rules, which would be a blend of the touring divisions, SK modifieds and existing rules from other speedways. The goal of the management is to blend the rules to make it a very competitive division while keeping changes to a minimum for competitors who already compete under existing rules. The biggest topic under rules was in regards to tires. A two tire rule will be implemented and more research will be done to the brand tire that will be used.
Other topics that were discussed were the purse structure and the events schedule. All appeared to be in favor of the structure and accepted an every other week race schedule that would equal ten events in the 2009 season.
Another meeting will be held after a rough draft of the rules and research on the tires are completed. If anyone would like a copy of the rough draft of the rules and the research for the tire option please mail the speedway or call the office. The date and time will be announced.
