Things are not looking good in the Patrick Laperle camp. Laperle's #91 Crate Late Model was badly damaged last night after contact with Stephen Nasse going into turn one. The car was heavily damaged. A quick glance last night showed that the front and rear clips were likely bent and the rear end housing was junk. Today, the team tells us that the list of bent or broken parts in a long one that includes shocks and even the seat.
Laperle was planning to make one or two laps and park the car in the feature race tonight to try and come away with the best points finish position. He had been leading the standings going into last night's race, but the wreck dropped him to second place.
The team has covered the car and has done about all that they can do to it before feature time.
This particular car has a mixed history of racing in Florida for Laperle. It was very quick as a Super Late Model a few years ago at USA International Speedway's SpeedFest, but Laperle got together with Eddie van Meter in that race and hit the wall hard. It took a few years of on and off work on it to bring it back to health for Speedweeks 2009 and Laperle scored three victories with it this week. Then he wrecked
