New Talent of the Whelen Modified Tour


The 2005 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour featured the rise of several new talents . Leading the list would have to be Doug Coby, driver of the #77. Coby finished 8th in the final Tour standings,with 4 top fives, and 6 top tens . Zach Sylvester had two seconds,including a photo finish with TC at Thompson , driving the #15. Sylvester also had 6 top tens,finishing 9th in points.Dave Etheridge finshed 13th driving the #54,he had 4 top tens. Steve Whitt,had 3 top fives and finshed 14th in points. Tour Rookie Tyler Haydt,finshed 15th driving the #28. Haydt had 1 top five and 3 top tens. Greg Shivers finished 16th driving the #23. Shivers had 2 top tens.


Several Rookie drivers made very impressive  limited Tour appearances in 2005 . Leading  that list would have to be 2005 Tour Champion Tony Hirschman's son,Matt . In only 6 starts,he has 2 top tens. Hirschman has competed driving his own R.O.C. Championship winning #52,as wel as for the #59 team. Hirschman has stated he would like to join the Tour full time in 2006,if a ride can be found . 


Others that made noticebale starts include James Civalli,and Chris Pasteryak . Civalli,who's season was surrounded by stories of his many skirmishes,has a top ten finish in just 2 starts driving the #29 . Pasteryak,the son of  longtime Tour driver Charlie,has 4 starts driving his fathers #5 . In those 4 starts he has 1 top ten .


Ritchie Coy,Justin Gaydosh,and Darrin Stevens, Eric Berndt and Kenny Horton  are other new comers in 2005 .
