THE “KING” OF SOUTHERN MODIFIEDS IS COMING TO

FRIENDSHIP MOTOR SPEEDWAY

Junior Miller Announces Return to FMS

(King, NC):  ASA Southern Modified Auto Race Tour “Officials” have received verbal confirmation that Junior Miller will be returning to Friendship Motor Speedway this Friday night for the running of the “Kids for Christ 75” at the .389 mile asphalt track.  Miller will be driving his familiar #69 in the 75 lapper, heats and possibly the “Dash-for-Cash”, a special winner-take-all, five lap dash for $500.00 between the top six qualifiers for the main event.  Miller and his crew have been pushing the return on various web-sites and chat rooms and have offered a “challenge” to the “Dirty South” gang.  That would be the Myers Brothers from Walnut Cove, NC.  Jason and Burt Myers have always had some of the cars to beat at Friendship and Miller’s crew wants to take the trophy back to the “other” side of Kernersville, NC.

In addition to Miller and the Myers Brothers, L. W. Miller, 2004 ASA & 2005 FMS Modified Champion, is on the entry list.  Jay Foley, Kevin Powell, Joe Lucas, Josh Nichols, 2004 ASA Late Model Champ, Brandon Hire, Johnny Sutton and many more of the best Modified drivers in the area will be on hand to slug it out in this “shootout”.  Burt Myers leads the ASA Southern Modified Race Tour standings over Foley and Brother Jason Myers with Nichols and Powell rounding out the top five.

“We’re doing all we can to spice up the action for the Modified fans in the area” said ASA spokesman, Randy Myers.  “This short feature race should allow the drivers to go as hard as they want without the worry of tire management.  The track surface at FMS still has a tremendous amount of grip and qualifying times this season are only a couple of tenths of a second off the inaugural season at the track.  The Modifieds are still very fast and the unique shape of the track offers a couple of passing spots as well as some tight places that help keep the action exciting all the time.  The short heat races determine the starting order for the feature and we have an autograph session for the fans to meet the drivers so it makes for an interesting show.  This week is also “Kids for Christ” night at the track.  Our track Chaplain, Jake Hicks, has done a great job with the Track Ministry and these events allow the area Churches the chance to enjoy a night of racing as a group.  Jake has some great events scheduled for the kids including “face painting”, clowns and events and maybe a surprise or two for the fans”, Myers said.
