A Look Back at The First Half Of The Season


RACE ONE: Icebreaker 2006 Thompson (CT) Speedway 150-laps

The 2006 Rookie crop showed strength in the season opener with #28 James Civali leading the charge in sixth, Mike Andrews Jr. in the #36 seventh, and Jonathon McKennedy in the #73 tenth.


46 cars were on hand for qualifying.


RACE TWO: Spring Sizzler Stafford (CT) Motor Speedway 200-laps


1. #77 Doug Coby - Coby's first Whelen Modified Tour Win 


2. #18 Donny Lia - Lia had dabbled in the ARCA Series with Hagans Racing


3. #3 Eric Beers


4. #16 Mike Stefanik


5. #1 Rob Summers - Strong showing from the 2005 Waterford (CT) Speedbowl Champion 


Rookie drivers continued to show their strength at Stafford, with #28 James Civali seventh, #59 Matt Hirschman eigth, and #0 Danny Sammons tenth.


This would be Ted Christopher's last race in the Mystique #13.


48 cars were on hand for qualifying.


RACE THREE: Wheeler Bros. 100 Jennerstown (PA) Speedway 100-laps


1. #86 Ted Christopher - First win in first race with Whelan Team


2. #48 Tony Hirschman


3. #10 Eddie Flemke Jr. 


4. #3 Eric Beers


5. #18 Donny Lia


Jonathon McKennedy in the #73 lead the Rookie charge finishing tenth.


35 cars were on hand for qualifying.


RACE FOUR: N.E. Dodge Dealers 100 Thompson (CT) Speedway 100-laps


1. #2 Todd Szegedy - First win with new team


2. #10 Eddie Flemke Jr.


3. #28 James Civali - First top five for a Rookie driver


4. #3 Eric Beers


5. #48 Tony Hirschman


James Civali in the #28 lead the Rookie charge finishing third, Ron Yuhas Jr. in the #6 was ninth.


44 cars were on hand for qualifying.


RACE FIVE: CT. Classic 150 Stafford (CT) Motor Speedway 100-laps. Rained-out on originally scheduled date, became Fourth of July celebration.


1. #66 John Blewett III - First win with family team


2. #12 Jimmy Blewett - One-Two Punch by the brothers


3. #18 Donny Lia


4. #16 Mike Stefanik


5. #36 Ted Christopher


Anthony Sesley in the #11 lead the Rookie charge finishing eigth, with Matt Hirschman in the #59 finishing ninth. James Civali in the #28 was a strong contender for the win, before being sidelined with mechanical problems.


42 cars were on hand for qualifying.


RACE SIX: WMT 100 New Hampshire International Speedway 100-laps


1. #66 John Blewett III


2. #28 James Civali


3. #41 Reggie Ruggiero


4. #10 Eddie flemke Jr.


5. #16 Mike Stefanik


The race ended under caution with James Civali in the #28 appearing to have taken his first win, upon further review John Blewett III was declared the race winner. NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series regulars Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards were in the field, both drawing criticism for their driving. Stewart is expected to participate in the September race.


James Civali in the #28 once again lead the Rookie charge, with Ronnie Silk in the #19 finishing tenth.

RACE SEVEN: Paul Graff Trucking 100 Holland (NY) Speedway 100-laps


1, #48 Tony Hirschman


2. #36 Ted Christopher


3. #16 Mike Stefanik


4. #10 Eddie Flemke Jr.


5. #4 Jerry Marquis


Danny Sammons in the #0  lead the Rookie charge finishing seventh, and James Civali in the #28 was tenth.


30 cars were on hand for qualifying. All but the #87 of Alex Hoag started the event. Hoag had problems in practice and was done for the night.


RACE EIGHT:  Miller Lite 200 Riverhead (NY) Raceway 200-laps


1. #36 Ted Christopher - Moved to second in points


2. #79 Chuck Hossfeld


3. #4 Jerry Marquis


4. #16 Mike Stefanik


5. #1 Rob Summers


Riverhead regulars Chuck Steuer in the #11, and Howie Brode in the #96 finsihed seventh and eight respectively. Mike Andrews Jr.who started the season the the Whelen Tour, finished sixth in the second Whelan entry.  


41 cars were on hand for qualifying.


Mike Stefanik leads Ted Christopher by 43 points heading to Stafford.
