Stafford Rescheduled Fall Final News & Results 10/29/06

Stafford Motor Speedway has a very windy, partly cloudy and cool day to run their rescheduled Fall Final.  We intend on bringing the results for the SK, SK Lite, and the Late Model Divisions as the checkers drop.  www.Modseriesscene.com will be covering the Whelen Modified Tour results as always, in their forum and in their flashchat.  The green is scheduled to drop at 1:30PM for the SK division, so we'll see you then!

RE: Stafford Rescheduled Fall Final News & Results 10/29/06

The last SK feature of the 2006 season has commenced at SMS.  With a 7th place finish, Frank Ruocco has unofficially won the SK championship.  Chris Jones and Bo Gunning had a typical feature, apparently spending most of the feature trying to wreck eachother.  The eyewitness reports that Jones ended up getting thrown out of the race, then after spinning some donuts, headed to the infield and was forceably removed from there.  He continued to throw a fit, and it was rumored that he had to be removed in handcuffs....

Here is the top five...

SK Feature event top five finishers:

  1. Willie Hardie Jr.

  2. Jeff Malave

  3. Zach Sylvester

  4. Brad Heitala

  5. Eric Berndt

The SK Lite division follows shortly.

The WMT event has completed, with Todd Szegedy taking the win.  2nd was Ken Barry, followed by Zach Sylvester, and Tony Hirschman, 3rd and 4th respectively.  The last event of the SMS 2006 season, the Late Model feature, will begin shortly and we will return with the podium finishers.

Woody Pitkat is the unofficial 2006 SMS Late Model Champion.  Jay Stuart who was in the #23 car, after starting in the back, got all the way up to 2nd.  After an altercation that ended with Wayne Coury Jr. in the wall, Stuart was ousted from the race by track officials.

Late Model top five finishers:

  1. Ryan Posocco

  2. Woody Pitkat

  3. Tom Fearn

  4. Jim Peterson

  5. Scott Foster Jr.

That's it for the Fall Final.  Thanks for joining us!  We do plan on bringing live news and results from the Waterford Speedbowl Finale next Saturday, see ya then!

Andersen was disqualified after something in the back of the car -- don't ask me what, 'cause I forget -- was found to be bigger than usual. Officials were talking about this and asked Shelly to unload the car AGAIN and check whatever the piece was on her car. Shelly is the SK Light champion.

Stafford's site says that both Anderson and Cafro were disqualified for having illegal brakes. (Sorry... the correct term would be "non-compliant".)

What Stafford will do to get who they want to be the winner.

Brakes were already checked this year...no problems them before.

I'm guessing it's a "now and then" scenario. Things probably changed from the last time they checked brakes on the SK Lights. That's my guess.

RE: Stafford Rescheduled Fall Final News & Results 10/29/06

This is just another example of how much Stafford makes me want to puke the way people are treated there. Stafford officials were looking for a device that prevents the rear brakes from being locked up upon heavy braking. Sort of a shock absorber for brake fluid pressure. Somebody was quite sure both the 70 SK Lite and the 91 SK had these in their cars. When the tech guys couldn't find one in the 70, they said they rear caliper pistons had to be the same size as the front calipers, they were not and they were DQ'ed. Read the rule, it says that each piston in each caliper has to be the same size. It doe's not say the caliper pistons will be the same size in every caliper on the car. I have never met anyone from the 70 team and wouldn't know them if I fell over them. They got screwed. I also don't know Shelly Perry, but it sure looked like she was given every chance to win the championship one way or another. They DQ'ed at least 3-4 different cars this year for very shady reasons. Each car was in the top three in points each time. She was a top 6-8 car 90% of the year. Just my opinion.

I understand where everyone is coming from and I will be the first to say SMS open's themselves up to this kind of critisizm with "odd" looking situations such as this. But I do hope it doesn't tarnish what Shelly Perry an her team accomplished.

What happen to the #53 SK team was absolute BS, Jones should have been removed from the event way before that. And what Gunning did trying to retaliate against Jones (One of the times) slamming into the back of Jones going into turn 3 sending him into the back of Ruocco almost spinning him (If not for a great save by Ruocco) would have probably cost the #91 team the championship.

Brit's dad did call into the Speedway Line Report last night. I'll relisten to it later today, and I'll take notes. That way I can find out what the heck went on without having dogs barking and little kids screaming in the background. Give me a few hours. Please.

In other news, Chris Jones really did screw up big time. I didn't believe half the things he said in his own impromptu interview on the same radio show. Again, I'll take notes on that as well. (Well, actually I don't have to take too many notes, 'cause he was indefinitely suspended as of today.)

actually he had some electrical problem, and didnt run out of gas even though most everyone thought it was that.

And stafford always screws their racers so that either 1. the fans get to see a "better race" 2. the people win who the want to win. Its happened many tiems before, and will most likely continue to happen.

Im glad chris jones was suspended indefanately. they should have throw him out of the track the first time he got into gunning. I just hope that if Stafford has low car counts that they wont let him back in, like they did earlier this year.
